Benchmark index drops 1,826.26 points (2.23%) over three days, wiping Rs11.21 lakh crore amid US tariff worries
Over three trading days the benchmark index fell 1,826.26 points (2.23%), erasing Rs 11.21 lakh crore of market capitalisation to about Rs 4.44 lakh crore, as selling pressure and concerns over newly imposed US tariffs on exports weighed on sentiment and curtailed foreign inflows. The 30-share index closed the latest session down 270.92 points at 79,809.65. Midcap and smallcap gauges also declined, while sectoral performance was mixed-realty, energy, IT and auto among the laggards and FMCG, industrials, capital goods and power among the gainers; broader breadth was negative.
