Regulator and tech ministry agree regular talks on digital data protection, competition policy and joint market studies
The competition regulator and the technology ministry held consultations on the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, digital markets and competition policy, stressing coordinated regulation to balance data governance, consumer protection and market competition amid rapid digital-sector growth. The meeting acknowledged existing differences over a proposed Digital Competition Law and reiterated readiness for regular dialogue and joint work on interface issues between data protection and competition law. The corporate affairs ministry will undertake market studies to build an evidence base for any ex-ante digital competition regime after wide stakeholder consultations on the draft bill, which drew more than a hundred responses.
