Regional party says ED staged PMLA raids to deflect questions about prime minister's degree, calls case politically motivated
A regional political party accused federal investigators of staging raids under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act as a diversion from questions about the prime minister's degree and described the money-laundering case as false and politically motivated. The Enforcement Directorate searched at least 13 locations, including the home of a party leader and several contractors, based on an FIR by a city anti-corruption branch alleging corruption in past health infrastructure projects. Party officials say the probe is misuse of central agencies to intimidate opponents; they cited a past detention that ended with investigative agencies filing a closure report. The city high court recently limited disclosure of the prime minister's academic records.
