Workshop helps exporters align with new EU textile rules: traceability, Digital Product Passport, EPR, green finance support
A nonprofit implementing partner, funded by an EU SWITCH-Asia programme, conducted a workshop with local exporters and industry bodies to explain evolving EU legal requirements for textiles, including eco-design, durability, traceability, the forthcoming Digital Product Passport (DPP), and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). The session highlighted compliance risks for exporters to EU markets-such as mandatory traceability, potential carbon taxes, and product-entry conditions-and outlined mitigation measures including traceability technologies, green financing, and capacity-building. A consortium of academic, finance, and tech partners will support MSMEs' regulatory alignment, resource-efficiency upgrades, and access to green finance to reduce legal and market access risks.
