<h1>ED conducts PMLA searches targeting ruling-party MLA and associates over alleged teacher recruitment money-laundering (Section 3 PMLA)</h1> The Enforcement Directorate conducted PMLA searches targeting a ruling-party MLA from a Murshidabad constituency and several relatives and associates over alleged irregularities in recruitment of teachers and support staff in state schools; the probe follows a CBI FIR ordered by the Calcutta High Court. The MLA had previously been arrested and later released in connection with the scheme. The money-laundering investigation has previously led to arrests, including a former state education minister, an alleged associate, and a former head of the state primary education board, and the ED has filed four charge sheets to date.
