Former CM and minister seek stay on Kaleshwaram probe report, allege lack of notice and no cross-examination
The High Court adjourned to Aug 22 petitions by a former chief minister and a former minister seeking to quash a judicial commission report on the Kaleshwaram irrigation project, arguing the commission violated procedures by not issuing notices or allowing cross-examination and produced a one-sided finding; they sought interim relief restraining the government from acting on the report amid fears of criminal proceedings. The commission, headed by a retired judge, held the former chief minister directly and vicariously accountable for planning, procedural and financial irregularities and noted works began without final DPR or cabinet approval. The government accepted the report and is considering tabling it in the Assembly.
