National Herald files inspected; cognisance ruling deferred, investigation extended, investigating officer ordered to appear and matter relisted
A Delhi court inspected case files in the National Herald matter and deferred a ruling on cognisance, ordering further inspection and requiring the investigating officer to appear; the matter was listed again for the previously fixed date of August 19. The Enforcement Directorate has accused several senior political figures, former party officials and a private company of conspiracy and money laundering arising from an alleged fraudulent takeover of roughly Rs 2,000 crore in assets belonging to the publishing company that ran the National Herald, claiming the accused majority-held the private firm that obtained those assets in exchange for a Rs 90 crore loan.
