Tech Giant's Smartphone Shipments in India Rise 21.5% in H1 2025, Premium Models Lead Growth
A market research report reveals that a major technology company's smartphone supplies in India increased by 21.5% year-over-year to 5.9 million units in the first half of 2025, with its latest model being the highest-shipped device nationwide. The overall Indian smartphone market grew marginally by 0.9% with 70 million units shipped, while the second quarter saw a 7.3% increase. Another leading brand dominated the second quarter with a 19% market share, followed by a competitor holding 14.5%. Several Chinese brands experienced declines in shipments and market share. Premium segment devices showed significant growth, with the top models accounting for over 60% of shipments in that category. The average selling price of smartphones rose by 10.8% to a record high. The report also noted increased shipments of Qualcomm chipset-based smartphones and a decline in those using MediaTek chipsets, highlighting competitive pressures and inventory concerns in the mid-range market segment.
