<h1>Government launches Bima Sakhi scheme enrolling 2 lakh women agents with Rs 520 crore allocation and stipend support</h1> The Government of India launched the Bima Sakhi Mahila Career Agent Scheme in December 2024, enrolling over 2 lakh women nationwide. LIC allocated Rs 520 crore for the current financial year 2025-26, having already disbursed Rs 115.13 crore by July 2025. In the previous year, Rs 62.36 crore was paid as stipends to participants. The scheme provides performance-based incentives and career advancement opportunities. Graduate participants become eligible for LIC's Apprentice Development Officer recruitment after completing five years of service. LIC offers three-year stipend support ranging from Rs 7,000 monthly in the first year to Rs 5,000 in the third year, supplementing commission earnings. Stipends are subject to performance parameters and aim to help women establish life insurance agency careers. A Minister of State provided this information in a written parliamentary response.
