Former tax authority chairman appointed as new NFRA Chairperson along with three additional members
The government appointed a former tax authority chairman as the new Chairperson of the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA). Three additional full-time members were also appointed to the financial regulator. The chairperson position had been vacant since March after the previous incumbent's three-year term ended, with a competition commission chief serving as interim chairperson since April. The new appointees include former tax officials and a former vigilance commission secretary. The appointments are for three years or until age 65. NFRA was established under companies law in October 2018 as a financial reporting regulator. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved these appointments to fill key positions in the regulatory body.
