<h1>CBEC's Accredited Client Programme Sees Duty Shortfall; Legal Actions in Progress, Minister Reports to Lok Sabha.</h1> The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has launched the Accredited Client Programme (ACP) to provide assured facilitation to importers who comply with customs laws. Initially granted for one year and renewable annually, the program had 332 importers as of March 2013. The percentage of import cargo cleared under ACP from 2009 to 2012 ranged from 12.86% to 13.87%. An audit up to December 2012 found a duty shortfall of Rs. 5957.53 lakhs, with Rs. 148.70 lakhs recovered. Legal actions are being pursued, as stated by the Minister of State for Finance in the Lok Sabha.
