<h1>Govt Approves Rs. 1707.5 Crore Projects for Haldia Dock II Berths to Boost Capacity and Support Regional Growth.</h1> The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved projects to develop multipurpose and mechanized berths at Haldia Dock II (North and South) under Kolkata Port Trust. These projects, costing Rs. 821.40 crore and Rs. 886.10 crore respectively, are on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer basis for 30 years. They aim to increase the port's capacity by 23.4 MTPA, addressing the demand for coal and bulk cargo in Kolkata's hinterland. This development is crucial for supporting the region's industrial growth, enhancing trade, and generating employment, benefiting the eastern and northeastern parts of India.
