<h1>Government to Allocate Rs. 5.87 Lakh Crore to States, Plan to Consolidate 173 Schemes into 70 Announced.</h1> The government plans to allocate Rs. 5,87,082 crore to States and Union Territories through tax shares, non-plan grants, loans, and central assistance as part of the 2013-14 budget. The Finance Minister announced in the Lok Sabha that central funds will be distributed as Central plan assistance. Addressing concerns over the numerous Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Additional Central Assistance Schemes, the Finance Minister revealed plans to consolidate 173 schemes into 70, with each scheme undergoing a review every two years.
