GST fraud worth Rs 17 crore uncovered using fake documents and forged registration across 10 states
Authorities in Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi district uncovered a major GST fraud involving fake documents and tax evasion exceeding Rs 17 crore. The accused allegedly used forged documents to obtain GST registration for a firm and conducted transactions worth nearly Rs 1 billion across 10 states. The firm issued invoices totaling Rs 96.53 crore to 10 traders but failed to pay GST dues of Rs 17.57 crore. Field inspection revealed no physical existence of the business at the registered location, and the PAN card used was forged. An FIR was filed and the firm's GST registration was cancelled.
