State requests increased urea allocation from center as only 3.07 lakh tonnes supplied against 5 lakh tonne kharif requirement
The state government requested timely supply of allocated urea from the central government to meet kharif season demand. The chief minister met with the union fertiliser minister, highlighting that only 3.07 lakh tonnes were supplied between April-June against the 5 lakh tonne requirement. Despite promises of 63,000 tonnes domestic and 97,000 tonnes imported urea for July, only 29,000 tonnes were delivered. The state requested enhanced quota of domestically-produced urea and increased railway rakes for transportation, citing railway reluctance to provide additional transport capacity during peak farming season.
