Government Allocates Rs. 800 Crore for Wind Energy Incentives and Proposes Waste-to-Energy Projects with Public-Private Partnerships.
The Finance Minister announced a budget allocation of Rs. 800 crore to support wind energy projects through generation-based incentives. The initiative aims to boost the non-conventional wind energy sector. Additionally, a scheme is proposed to encourage waste-to-energy projects in cities and municipalities using a public-private partnership model. The government plans to support these projects through viability gap funding, grants, and low-cost capital. To address the high cost of renewable energy, low-interest funds from the National Clean Energy Fund will be provided to IREDA for lending to viable projects. This scheme is set to last five years.
