<h1>Defence Minister to inaugurate three-day Controllers' Conference focusing on transforming financial governance and defence preparedness</h1> The Defence Minister will inaugurate a three-day Controllers' Conference from July 7-9 in Delhi, hosted by the Defence Accounts Department. The conference brings together top defence leadership, civil services, academia, and stakeholders to evaluate challenges and advance financial governance in defence preparedness. This year's theme focuses on transforming financial advice, payment, audit and accounting through defence finance and economics. The event aims to reposition the department from a traditional finance body to a future-ready institution. Eight business sessions will cover budget reform, audit restructuring, and capacity building. The department manages a defence budget of Rs 26.8 lakh crore and has conducted 206 outreach programmes since the last conference.
