Cabinet Approves 63 km Railway Line Between Raigarh and Bhupdeopur to Boost Coal Transport in Western India.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved a new 63 km broad gauge railway line between Raigarh and Bhupdeopur, costing Rs. 379.08 crore. This project, funded by a joint venture of IRCON International Ltd., South Eastern Coalfields Ltd. (SECL), and the Government of Chhattisgarh, aims to enhance coal transportation from the Mand-Raigarh coal belt. IRCON will lead the formation of a Special Purpose Vehicle with 26% equity, while the Government of Chhattisgarh contributes 10% through land or cash. SECL will cover the remaining equity. The line, crucial for meeting Western India's coal demand, is expected to complete in five years.
