Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA)
07-February-2013 13:22 IST
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 2013 season for Fair Average Quality (FAQ) of “Milling Copra” at Rs.5350/- per quintal and of “Ball Copra” at Rs.5500/- per quintal. This represents an increase of Rs.150/- per quintal for both “Milling and Ball Copra” over the MSP announced by the Government last season. The increase in the MSP of copra is expected to encourage farmers to step up investment in coconut cultivation and thereby production and productivity of coconut in the country.
The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) would continue to act as the nodal agency to undertake price support operation at the minimum support prices in the coconut growing states.
