of <h1>SEZ Board Approves 23 New Proposals, Boosting Jobs and Exports; 2.01 Lakh Jobs Created Since 2006.</h1> The Board of Approval for Special Economic Zones (SEZs) held its 26th meeting on June 4, 2008, granting 23 approvals for SEZ proposals. To date, 467 SEZs have received formal approval, with 225 notified, providing employment to approximately 97,993 individuals. Since the SEZ Act's implementation in February 2006, 2.01 lakh new jobs have been created. Exports from SEZs grew by 92% from 2006-07 to 2007-08. The meeting approved 21 new SEZs and converted 2 in-principle approvals to formal ones. Additionally, discussions were held regarding SEZs in Goa, with further input requested from the state government.
