The international crude oil price for Indian Basket as computed/published today by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas went up to US$ 109.39/barrel (bbl) on 21.01.2013. This was higher than the price of US$ 108.92/bbl prevailing on the previous trading day of 18.01.2013. 

In rupee terms also, the crude oil price went up to Rs 5892.84/bbl on 21.01.2013 as compared to Rs 5876.23/bbl on 18.01.2013. This was due to increase in price in dollar terms. Rupee dollar-exchange rate on 21.01.2013 was Rs 53.87/US$ against Rs 53.95/US$ on 18.01.2013.

Crude oil price increase reported for Indian Basket, raising rupee equivalent and reflecting exchange-rate movement. International crude oil price for the Indian Basket rose to US$ 109.39 per barrel on 21 January 2013, producing a rupee-denominated price of Rs 5892.84 per barrel; the release attributes the rupee increase to the dollar price rise and records the rupee-dollar exchange rate on the reporting date, with comparative figures for the previous trading day and recent fortnightly periods.
