        The Union Minister for Commerce, Industry & Textiles Shri Anand Sharma will be attending the World Economic Forum 2013 in Davos. The event from January 23-27, 2013, is essentially an Annual Meeting of Head of States, industry leaders, economic Ministers and other stakeholders. There, Shri Sharma is likely to attend an informal WTO Ministerial to discuss the trends in Doha round negotiations. He will also meet the BRICS Trade Ministers. The meeting will set ground for the BRICS Summit and Trade Ministers meeting to be held in Durban in March.

        Shri Sharma will have a hectic bilateral agenda and will meet his counterparts from Indonesia, South Africa, Switzerland, South Korea, Kazakhstan, New Zealand and Costa Rica to review the bilateral ties. The Minister will also host a reception of India-Africa Partnership which will provide a platform to Head of States and Ministers from the regions. Commenting on the upcoming event, Shri Sharma said, “WEF has over the years emerged as a global platform for the corporate and economic leaders from across the world. We view this as an opportunity to showcase the opportunities in India and position India as an attractive investment destination.”

        He will also host a Global Investment Roundtable which will be attended by a large number of major global CEOs. There, Shri Sharma will convey the measures for liberalization of FDI regime in India and major initiatives for creating massive industrial infrastructure such as DMIC and NMIZs.

        A galaxy of global business leaders will meet Shri Sharma to apprise him of their business plans in India. About 20 such global leaders including top leadership from TESCO, Standard Chartered, Diageo, Novartis, Merck, Unilever and Philips, among others, will call on Shri Sharma. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has designed a Special Campaign highlighting India’s potential and promise and to enhance India’s image on the global platform. The Campaign has the theme ‘Land of Limitless Opportunities: India Beckons the World’.
