Vehicle scrappage policy to remove aged government and private vehicles aims to reduce air pollution and emissions.
The Cabinet adopted a Vehicle Scrappage Policy to remove about 13,000 end-of-life vehicles-prioritising some 5,000 government vehicles aged 15 years and older and about 8,000 private vehicles aged 35 years and older-to reduce emissions, lower fuel import reliance, and lessen raw-material extraction and recycling needs. Separately, it approved upgrading six secondary schools to higher secondary level and adding streams in 11 schools to address an eleventh-standard intake deficit of roughly 12,000 seats, creating 137 teacher posts and incurring the stated annual budgetary cost.
