Reliance Industries to Invest Rs 65,000 Crore for 500 Biogas Plants Using Napier Grass as Feedstock
Reliance Industries announced plans to invest Rs 65,000 crore in establishing 500 compressed biogas (CBG) plants across Andhra Pradesh. The foundation stone for the first plant was laid in Prakasam district, with an initial investment of Rs 139 crore. The project will utilize Napier grass grown on barren lands to produce biogas. Once fully operational, all plants will produce 40 lakh tonnes of CBG and 1.1 million metric tonnes of organic fertilizer annually, creating 250,000 jobs. The initiative aims to transform 15 lakh acres of barren land into fertile farmland and reduce chemical fertilizer usage, supporting local economies and advancing clean energy goals.
