Named after cooperative movement pioneer Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patel, the institution aims to create qualified manpower for cooperative societies. The bill passed both houses by late March 2025. The university will address capacity building needs for the sector's 8 lakh institutions and 30 crore people, offering degree programs, distance education, and e-learning courses. It will train approximately 800,000 individuals annually, establish sector-specific Schools of Excellence, and unify 284 cooperative training institutes across India.
