<h1>Government to Borrow Rs 8 Lakh Crore in H1 2025-26 to Bridge Revenue Gap; Includes Sovereign Green Bonds</h1> The government plans to borrow Rs 8 lakh crore from the market in the first half of the 2025-26 fiscal year through dated securities to address the revenue gap. This amount represents 54% of the total estimated borrowing of Rs 14.82 lakh crore for the year. The borrowing strategy includes Rs 10,000 crore in Sovereign Green Bonds. The fiscal deficit is projected at 4.4% of GDP, amounting to Rs 15,68,936 crore. To finance this deficit, net market borrowings are estimated at Rs 11.54 lakh crore, with additional funding from small savings and other sources. Total receipts and expenditures are projected at Rs 34.96 lakh crore and Rs 50.65 lakh crore, respectively.
