Tripura's Exports to Bangladesh Plummet by 90% in 2023-24, Trade Efforts Focus on Customs Station Efficiency
Tripura's bilateral trade with Bangladesh has been declining since the 2022-23 fiscal year, primarily due to a decrease in exports from Tripura. The trade volume dropped from Rs 1008.40 crore in 2021-22 to Rs 715.98 crore in 2023-24. While Bangladesh's export levels have remained relatively stable, Tripura's exports fell significantly from Rs 121.37 crore in 2022-23 to Rs 12.31 crore in 2023-24. The state exports items like stones, pulses, and fruits, while Bangladesh exports fish, cement, and PVC products. Efforts are underway to enhance the efficiency of Land Customs Stations to boost trade.
