<h1>Odisha's 2024 Crime Report: Rape Cases Rise 8%, Murders Down 7.6%, Cybercrimes Lead to Rs 154.45 Crore Losses</h1> In 2024, Odisha experienced an 8% increase in rape cases, totaling 3,054, while murder cases decreased by 7.6% to 1,258, according to a White Paper by the Home Department. Overall, 2,14,113 cognizable cases were reported, with chargesheets filed in 1,39,001 cases. Left Wing Extremism incidents dropped from nine to four, with six extremists neutralized and eight arrested. Cybercrimes involving Rs 154.45 crore were reported, leading to 581 arrests, Rs 2.02 crore returned to victims, and Rs 8.53 crore frozen. The report was shared with the Assembly ahead of the Home Department budget discussion.
