Finance Minister to Address Chief Commissioners/DGs of Customs, Excise & Service Tax Tomorrow
The Conference of the Chief Commissioners and Directors General of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax will be held in New Delhi tomorrow. The Union Finance Minister, Shri P. Chidambaram will inaugurate the Conference and also interact with the tax officials in the open house discussions.
The Conference will focus mainly on ensuring clarity in indirect tax laws, a stable tax regime, a non- adversarial tax administration, a fair mechanism for dispute resolution and an independent judiciary. br>
The Conference will cover the revenue performance including projection of revenue for the current year and reasons in shortfall if any; steps taken by the departments to promote manufacturing and export sector by providing a stable tax regime, a non-adversarial tax administration and a fair mechanism for dispute resolution; steps taken by the department to project a positive and trade friendly image; performance in the key areas of work; and any administrative constraints/problems. br>
