Rupee Drops 5 Paise to 87.11 Against USD Amid Volatile Markets and Foreign Fund Outflows
The rupee depreciated by 5 paise to 87.11 against the US dollar in early trading, despite initial support from the US delaying higher tariffs on Canada and Mexico and the Reserve Bank of India's liquidity infusion of Rs 1.9 trillion. Volatile equity markets and foreign fund outflows contributed to the rupee's decline. The rupee had previously gained for three consecutive days. The domestic equity market saw minor declines, with the BSE Sensex and Nifty both slightly down. Meanwhile, foreign institutional investors sold equities worth Rs 2,895.04 crore. The US dollar index rose slightly, and Brent crude prices increased marginally.
