Multi- State Societies Registration Bill, 2012
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs is working on the Multi- State Societies Registration Bill, 2012.
The Ministry has constituted an Expert Group on 11-05-2011 to study the legislative and regulatory architecture of the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and to suggest a Model Law on the subject as well as a Model Legislative Framework for the societies having Multi-State operations. The Expert Group has submitted its first report on 05.07.2012 which has been placed on the website of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs www.mca.gov.in, soliciting comments/suggestions from the public till 15th September, 2012. Thereafter the suggestions would be examined for conceptualizing the bill.
This information was given by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs Shri R.P.N. Singh in the Lok Sabha today in reply to a written question .

Multi-State societies registration: model law study initiated and public consultation opened to inform drafting of a national bill.
