<h1>India's Fiscal Deficit Hits 74.5% of Annual Target by January 2025, Exceeding Previous Year's 63.6%</h1> The Centre's fiscal deficit reached 74.5% of the annual target by January 2025, amounting to Rs 11,69,542 crore. This is higher than the 63.6% recorded in the previous year. Tax revenue stood at 74.4% of the Revised Estimates (RE), while total expenditure was 75.7% of the RE. The fiscal deficit for 2024-25 is projected at 4.8% of GDP, or Rs 15.69 lakh crore. Rs 10,74,179 crore was transferred to states, an increase from the previous year. Revenue expenditure rose by 5.1%, and capital expenditure surged by 51%, with expectations of further growth to meet fiscal targets.
