European Investment Bank to Double India Commitment to EUR10B, Focusing on Climate and Infrastructure Projects
The European Investment Bank (EIB) aims to nearly double its cumulative commitment to the Indian market to EUR10 billion within the next 6-7 years. The bank is exploring projects in Assam's tea, oil, and infrastructure sectors to expand its portfolio. Currently, EIB's commitment to India stands at EUR5.5 billion since 1993. This year, EIB plans to sign projects worth EUR600 million in urban mobility, water treatment, and green hydrogen. Ninety percent of ongoing projects focus on climate, and future initiatives will follow similar lines. EIB is also considering infrastructure projects to enhance connectivity within India and neighboring countries.
