ED Attaches Properties Worth Rs 1 Crore in Probe Against Ex-CBI Officer Under PMLA for Disproportionate Assets
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached residential properties valued at approximately Rs 1 crore in a money-laundering investigation against a former deputy superintendent of police (DSP) of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The former officer was initially charged by the CBI under the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly acquiring disproportionate assets totaling Rs 1.44 crore, which exceeded his legitimate income by 113.36% during the period from November 2012 to January 2021. The ED claims the officer used family members' bank accounts to channel illicit funds into property acquisitions. Properties in Delhi and Ghaziabad were attached under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
