Tripura to Upgrade Kamalpur-Santirbazar Road to National Highway, Boosting Connectivity and Tourism Development
The Tripura government is prioritizing the development of the Kamalpur to Santirbazar road into a national highway. Currently, Tripura has six national highways, and the central government has agreed to develop four more. The 148 km road is crucial for enhancing socio-economic activities in the Dhalai, Gomati, and South Tripura districts, reducing travel distance from Ambassa to Sabroom, and connecting tourist spots like Dumbur and Chhabimura. The proposed highway will support regional connectivity, especially with Bangladesh's Chittagong port. The project is estimated to cost Rs 2,000 crore, with a Detailed Project Report to be prepared within six months.
