Himachal to Invest Rs 1800 Crore in Upgrading Hospital Equipment, Introducing Robotic Surgery, and Expanding Healthcare Services
The Himachal government plans to invest Rs 1800 crore to replace outdated medical equipment in state-run hospitals, some of which have been in use for decades. This initiative aims to reduce medical costs associated with late diagnoses and improve healthcare services. Annually, 9.5 lakh patients leave the state for treatment, costing the state Rs 1350 crore in GDP. The health department's project includes introducing robotic surgery, advanced radiology, and laboratory equipment in medical colleges. A 150-bed Cancer Care Centre will be set up in Hamirpur, and healthcare services will be expanded across 69 government institutions, with efforts to digitize patient care.
