The investigation began after Delhi Customs seized 203 sheets of counterfeit currency paper from Hong Kong. The DRI apprehended two importers in Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka, and a buyer in Rajasthan. Searches in Haryana uncovered printing equipment and fake notes, while in Maharashtra, incriminating evidence such as currency paper and design files was found. The cases have been transferred to local police for further legal action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
