ONGC Tripura Asset Plans to Boost Gas Output to 4 MMSCMD to Meet Demand; Connects to IndraDhanush Grid by Next Year
ONGC Tripura Asset aims to increase its gas production from 3.5 MMSCMD to 4 MMSCMD within a year to meet rising natural gas demand. Currently, the gas supports three major power plants, including OTPC in Tripura's Gomati district. The asset operates 95 gas wells, exploring 17-18 annually, with a 50% success rate. Despite reduced power generation at the Palatana plant from 726 MW to 400 MW, gas supply has been enhanced, with 100 MW exported to Bangladesh. The northeastern state is expected to connect to the IndraDhanush Gas Grid by September next year, ensuring sufficient gas supply for power and industry.
