The metal has increased by 7% since January 1. Gold of 99.5% purity also hit a lifetime high of Rs 84,500 per 10 grams. Silver prices rose to Rs 95,000 per kg. In futures trading, gold contracts for February and April delivery reached new peaks on the Multi Commodity Exchange. The rise is attributed to investor demand for safe-haven assets amid geopolitical tensions and expected monetary policy changes. Market participants are also anticipating the upcoming Union Budget.
