Import Duties on Cars

The details of the number of cars imported by India are as under

        The details of the revenue collected on the cars imported by India are as under:

 The Government of India is negotiating a bilateral Broad Based Trade and Investment Agreement (BTIA) with the European Union (EU) and negotiations were launched in Brussels on 28-29 June, 2007 based on the recommendations of the High Level Trade Group at the 7^th India-EU Summit in October, 2006 in Helsinki.  So far fourteen rounds of negotiations have been held. Negotiations across various sectors are ongoing. Requests have been made by both sides on a variety of sectors including automobiles. Views of stakeholders are taken to determine negotiating positions with a view to ensure that the agreement, when concluded, will lead to enhanced bilateral trade in goods and services and investments.

This information was given by Shri Jyotiradiya M. Scindia,  Minister of State for Commerce & Industry   in written reply to a question in  Lok    Sabha today.
