<h1>Tamil Nadu Seeks Rs 1,635 Crore in Wage Arrears from Union for MGNREGS Workers Since November 2024.</h1> The Tamil Nadu Finance Minister met with the Union Finance Minister to request the release of Rs 1,635 crore in wage arrears for workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in the state. These dues have accumulated since November 27, 2024. The request follows a letter from the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to the Prime Minister. Tamil Nadu has been a leader in MGNREGS implementation, significantly involving women, Adi Dravidars, Scheduled Tribes, and differently-abled individuals. The state seeks prompt disbursal of funds to continue supporting its registered workers.
