Diversion of Loan Meant for Marginal Farmers

The Government of India has fixed the target of Agriculture Credit flow in the year 2011-12 at Rs.4,75,000 crore.  As on 31^st January, 2012, total disbursement of agriculture credit was Rs. 3,93410.99 crore of which the disbursement to small and marginal farmers was Rs.1,65,440.16 crore. 

It is reported by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) that they have not received any complaints against any of the bank in Delhi with regard to diversion of loans meant for Small Farmers/Marginal Farmers to big and rich farmers.

Diversion of agricultural loans: government records report no complaints of reallocation away from small and marginal farmers in Delhi. The government reported aggregate agriculture credit disbursements for 2011-12 and the share to small and marginal farmers, provided crop-loan figures for Delhi for 2010-11 and up to December 2011, and stated that regulatory reporting disclosed no complaints alleging diversion of loans meant for small or marginal farmers to larger farmers in Delhi.
