Computerization of Commercial Tax Departments
A mission Mode Project for computerization of Commercial Taxes Departments of States and UTs (MMPCT) was initiated under the National e-Governance Plan. Accordingly, the Cabinet, in February, 2010 approved this project for an overall value of Rs. 1133.41 crore out of which Rs. 800 crore is the Central assistance. An amount of Rs. 433.44 crore has already been released to the States.
The computerization projects of States/ Union territories are likely to be completed by March, 2013.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Finance, Shri S.S. Palanimanickam in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
