The project, in collaboration with Cey-Nor Foundation Ltd and the Ministry of Fisheries, aims to rehabilitate the boatyard, enhancing local fishermen's livelihoods and creating job opportunities. The initiative is part of India's extensive development cooperation with Sri Lanka, valued at over USD 5 billion, which includes projects in housing, cultural centers, port dredging, and educational and healthcare infrastructure. Past efforts have also supported the agricultural and fishing communities with equipment and resources.
