<h1>India Cuts Customs Duty on Agro-Processing Equipment and Fertilizers to Boost Agriculture Sector.</h1> The Government of India announced a reduction in basic customs duty for the agriculture and agro-processing sectors. The duty on sugarcane planters, root or tuber crop harvesting machines, and rotary tillers and weeders, along with their parts, was decreased from 7.5% to 2.5%. Additionally, the duty on specified coffee plantation and processing machinery was reduced from 7.5% to 5%. For water-soluble and liquid fertilizers, other than urea, the duty was lowered from 7.5% to 5% and from 5% to 2.5%. Equipment imports for new or expanding fertilizer projects are exempt from the 5% duty until March 31, 2015.
