National Rural Livelihood Mission
Swarnajayanti Gram SwarojgarYojana (SGSY) has been restructured into National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) to provide self employment opportunities. Announcing this while presenting Union Budget in LokSabha today, the Finance Minister ShriPranab Mukherjee proposed to increase the allocation of NRLM by over 34 percent to Rs. 3,915 crores in 2012-13. The Finance Minister Shri Mukherjee also proposed to provide Rs. 200 crores to Women’s SHG’s Development Fund to enlarge the corpus to Rs. 300 crores. The Finance Minister Shri Mukherjee also proposed to establish a Bharat Livelihoods Foundation of India through Aajeevika. Highlighting the positive impacts of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MG-NERGA), the Finance Minister Shri Mukherjee said that the need for bringing about greater synergy between MG-NERGA and agriculture & allied rural livelihoods is being addressed.

Restructuring of rural livelihood scheme expands funding, strengthens women's self help group corpus and institutional support. Swarnajayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana has been restructured into the National Rural Livelihood Mission to promote rural self employment with increased central allocation, enhanced financial support for women's self help group corpuses, and creation of a national livelihoods foundation, while promoting programmatic synergy with the rural employment guarantee to align employment provision with agriculture and allied livelihoods.Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
