Government Raises 2024 Copra MSP to Boost Farmer Income, Milling Copra at Rs.11,160/Quintal, Ball Copra at Rs.12,000/Quintal.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by the Prime Minister, approved the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for copra for the 2024 season. The MSP for milling copra is set at Rs.11,160 per quintal and for ball copra at Rs.12,000 per quintal, ensuring margins of 51.84% and 63.26% respectively. This increase aims to provide better returns to coconut growers and encourage expanded production. Over the past decade, MSPs have more than doubled. In 2023, the government procured over 1.33 lakh metric tonnes of copra, benefiting approximately 90,000 farmers. NAFED and NCCF will continue as procurement agencies.
