Atal Pension Yojana Surpasses 6 Crore Enrolments, Expanding Old Age Security for Vulnerable Populations Across India.
Enrolments under the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) have surpassed 6 crore, with over 79 lakh new enrolments this financial year. This achievement reflects efforts to extend pension coverage to vulnerable populations, facilitated by banks. Launched in May 2015, APY aims to provide old age income security, especially for the poor and unorganized sector workers. The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority has promoted the scheme through multilingual informational materials. APY offers a government-guaranteed monthly pension of Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 5,000 from age 60, with benefits extending to the subscriber's spouse and nominee.
