<h1>Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Hits 50 Crore Accounts; 56% Owned by Women, 67% in Rural Areas.</h1> The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), launched in August 2014, has surpassed 50 crore accounts as of August 2023. Of these, 56% are owned by women and 67% are in rural or semi-urban areas. The scheme has accumulated deposits exceeding Rs. 2.03 lakh crore, with over 34 crore RuPay cards issued. The average account balance is Rs. 4,076, and more than 5.5 crore accounts receive Direct Benefit Transfer benefits. PMJDY has significantly enhanced financial inclusion, offering features like no minimum balance, free RuPay cards with accident insurance, and overdraft facilities.
