Since its inception in 2016, the scheme has significantly increased patent and trademark applications by startups, with patent filings rising from 179 in 2016-17 to 1500 in 2021-22, and trademark filings from 4 to 8649 in the same period. The revised scheme, effective from November 2022, includes a fee increase for facilitators by at least 100%, alongside offering startups fee rebates and fast-track examination provisions to further encourage IP filings.
